"On the streets of New York I sense a recovery.." -The Independent-

My comment is very short, because I just want to put the link to an article published by "The Independent" today 7th December. I wish to quote the last sentence because it is a bit  the core of my thought in these times of crisis: maybe we should lay aside articles, analysis, comments and ratings that prefigure apocalyptic scenarios. No need to overcome the crisis of consumer confidence. Everyone knows that the situation is delicate, bur repeating every day does not allocate the consumption but these will be defer until better times. The distance that separates from these "times" is largely in the hands of consumers.

One final thought: whereas commentators in Europe vie with each other to pile on more gloom, the reverse seems to be happening in the US. When we have some decent numbers – car sales or service-industry expectations – the response is that the good news won't last. In the US, by contrast, quite a few commentators are prepared to stick their necks out. I like this comment from Ian Shepherdson, the chief US economist for High Frequency Economics: "Something good is stirring in the US economy."
In New York, at least, it feels as if he might be right.
